Sometimes it’s fun to have the inside scoop on local terms and “lingo”.  Below you’ll find a list of ways we speak about attributes at our resort

and within Stone Mountain Park to brush up on before your visit!

  • Stone Mountain: A massive granite dome and the park’s central feature, renowned for its size.  There’s even a quarry you can visit while you are here!
  • Skyride: A cable car that rises over 800 feet into the air delivering guests to the top of Stone Mountain and offering aerial views overlooking all of Atlanta!
  • Crossroads: A recreation of a 19th-century southern town within the park, featuring various attractions and dining options.  This is where most of the festivals in Stone Mountain take place throughout the year.  If you are in Crossroads….you’ve found the heart of our Attractions Area.
  • Walk-Up Trail: A trail that allows visitors to hike to the summit of Stone Mountain…it’s quite an accomplishment and one we encourage you to try!
  • Grist Mill: A historic mill relocated to the park, showcasing 19th-century milling techniques.
  • Geyser Towers: An attraction featuring suspended rope bridges and net tunnels with a water element.  A favorite of young visitors…especially in summertime!
  • Pumpkin Festival: An annual fall event with themed activities, parades, festive food and entertainment.
  • Hot Now! This special sign is not to be missed!  If you see this feature in Stone Mountain Park Attractions Area…it means our warm, gooey, delicious cinnamon bread is just out of the oven!
  • Yellow Daisy:  A rare daisy only grows within 60 miles of Stone Mountain.  If you are lucky to find one, it’s a treasure indeed!  However in September, Yellow Daisy has affectionately become a term for one of our most beloved festivals…An annual arts and crafts festival held within the woodland trails of the park.  Be sure to join us!
  • Evergreen: A term our associates often use to refer to the grandest full-service, pet-friendly resort located within Stone Mountain Park.  It is the primary location for most guest stays in the Park.
  • Mountain Brew:  This casual spot within the resort offers coffee and light snacks….and has a secret!  On special evenings, it turns into a special place called The Hideaway where decadent beverages, special treats and a hub of social conversations take place!
  • The Pavilion: An event space suitable for weddings, conferences, and social gatherings.  Just down the walkway, along a wooden path, set on the banks of Stone Mountain Lake you will find this beautiful hidden gem.  It comes alive throughout the year with weddings and special events and can even glow with the light of the fireplace when weather is cold and crisp.  Most of all it is the departure point for the best summer adventure to be found.  Be sure to check the schedule of the Lake Cruise that leaves from here, it’s a highlight for any visit each summer!
  • The Rocks: In truth, it’s a bar located adjacent to the resort’s swimming pool, offering beverages and light fare.  But when the grill gets cookin’ and the slushie’s (adult-only and kid-friendly options) start pouring, this location is the absolute hub of any summer visit!
  • Paws & Peaks: We love dogs!  So much so we created a package just for them…truly!  Special beds where humans haven’t slept, dog-friendly charcuterie board with treats made just for a pup, and toys!  Yes we also include a special toy just for them.  You see Paws & Peaks is a package that shows your furry friend they are welcome to visit too!  Don’t be surprised when they ask to return!
  • Adventure Outpost:  When lakeside access offers a departure point for hydro bikes, stand up paddleboards, kayaks and all the adventure you could want, you’ve found a special part of Stone Mountain Park.  This summer the adventure gets even more exciting…but we can’t quite share those details yet…so stay tuned ~ YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS THIS ANNOUNCEMENT!
  • North Pole:  Remember when you were a kid?  When Santa and his home at the North Pole were mysterious and exciting and a place filled with toys where Santa made every little kids dreams come true?  It’s here!  Can you believe it?  You see Santa loves Stone Mountain Park so much, he created a portal where you can fly to the North Pole each December and visit him.  Reindeer play and learn their games.  Santa’s naughty and nice list are showcased for all to see!  And each winter our guests are invited to step into the dream of Christmas with a visit to Santa’s North Pole village for a few short weeks!  Pretty special, isn’t it?

We look forward to your visit!
